Need an affordable website, but don't want to sacrifice quality? Welcome to my site. I'm a West Lothian-based web designer, and I have designed and developed websites for local businesses in and around Edinburgh and the Lothians, and worked directly with many of Lothians hospitals and charities. I provide comprehensive services from initial concept to creation and development, including photography, brand identity and logo design, search engine submission and hosting.

I can supply websites that are simple to maintain, delivered with an easy-to-use content management system (CMS), allowing you to easily make changes to your own website through your browser alone (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc).

I specialise in getting websites up and running with the minimum of fuss, working with clients and building sites that fit the bill, but for a realistic budget.

I take a personal interest in all the work that I create. It becomes part of my portfolio, so I have a vested interest in doing a good job! I can provide you with a website that you can be proud to show to the world, but didn't cost the earth...

THE PROCESS.

What happens next and what is required from you.

You will want to take some time to think about what you wish to accomplish with your new website. You should visualise the navigation links you would like and what information you would expect to see on your site (such as homepage, about us, services, etc.) and supply all text and/or product information to be included. In addition, you may also supply material such as company logo, personal photos, etc. if desired/available.

At this point I will design a sample of how I think your site should look. I will pass this design to you for consideration and will make modifications to the design until the desired look is achieved.

Most websites, once they are live, do not require much updating. You can update your pages, post news, special offers, etc. from your own PC without being a computer wizard and without any cost using an in-built content management system.

As the web matures, people expect information honestly presented and free from gimmicks. I believe being able to provide compliant and accessible websites is of the utmost importance. Your website will tested during development on a variety of web browsers to insure proper display, functionality and accessibility.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION.

How your site is found on the web

Your website will be optimised for the search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.) using appropriate page titles, cleanly presented content and carefully chosen keywords & descriptions.

I always hand-submit websites to the major search engines and have had good results with most sites.

Beware of companies that promise they will "...place your site at the top of Google..." and charge a lot of money for this service. The simple fact is that no-one can explicitly promise your site will be listed at the very top of a search engine results page.

PRICES.

What will it cost?

The most common type of site ideal for small and local businesses is comprised of around five pages, typically: Home, About Us, Services/Products, News and Contact pages. This common set-up is available for a £200 one-off flat fee. That price includes all work to design and produce a fully finished "ready-to-go" website.

If you have other requirements, i.e. a message board/guest book/discussion forum, multiple product pages, etc. I can provide a quotation based on your needs. The exact specification is up to you.

In addition to the cost listed above is a recurring ‘web hosting’ cost of £150 per annum. This is where your website lives on the internet and covers your web-address (i.e. www.yourwebsite.co.uk) for the period of 12 months. This payment is essential and makes sure that your website is visible to the outside world. After all it's no use having a website if no-one can see it! This is the only part of having a website that is a recurring annual fee, the design and creation of the site is a one-off flat fee payment.
